Scuba in the Pub was founded in September 2016 by Gail Jackman, a dedicated advocate for marine conservation and sustainable living. Gail’s commitment to the environment includes living as close to a zero-waste lifestyle as possible, with a focus on reducing her ecological footprint and inspiring others to do the same.
As a certified Divemaster, Gail also volunteers with Reef Life Survey (RLS), where she plays an active role in monitoring the health of South Australia's marine parks. Her firsthand experience in marine conservation motivated her to create Scuba in the Pub, bringing together people who care about the marine environment and its creatures.
The goal of Scuba in the Pub is to foster a community of like-minded individuals, both divers and ocean lovers, who share a passion for marine life. Through our events, we focus on education and engagement, featuring expert speakers who highlight marine conservation, science, and technology.
While Gail manages the initiative on her own, she is supported by volunteers who help with the logistics on event nights, ensuring the events are well-organised and informative. Join us in protecting marine life and ensuring a sustainable future for our oceans.
Scuba in the Pub Acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of This Land and Sea Country and Pay Our Respects to Their Elders Past and Present.
